Eagles doing everything they can to endanger Giants' playoff hopes - New York Post

In a potential blow to the Giants’ playoff hopes, the Eagles are sitting multiple starters — and may give their third-string quarterback reps — in Sunday night’s game against the Washington Football Team.

The Giants need Philadelphia to beat Washington in order to reach the playoffs.

A Washington loss would give them the same 6-10 record as the Giants, who would then clinch the NFC East and a playoff spot because they hold the head-to-head tiebreaker.

But the Eagles appear to be more focused on tanking for a better draft pick, and thus won’t be playing many of their usual starters, including star running back Miles Sanders and wide receiver Alshon Jeffrey.

The Eagles currently hold the No. 6 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, but could fall to ninth with a win.

There were reports that quarterback Nate Sudfeld, usually the third-stringer, could come into the game in place of starter Jalen Hurts.

Carson Wentz, formerly the franchise quarterback, also was ruled inactive, as he and the Eagles may be headed for a split after he was benched in favor of the rookie Hurts.

Those Eagles who are playing, however, will be playing for their jobs next season, and aren’t expected to roll over.
