Before the game started on Monday night, ESPN broadcasters Brian Griese and Louis Riddick were discussing their conversation with New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick during the week.
The Buffalo Bills and Patriots are playing tonight one week after Buffalo secured the division title for the first time in 25 years. Griese said on the broadcast that Belichick “hasn’t bought into” the Josh Allen hype. Riddick added that: ““He wasn’t having any of it.”
On Belichick’s media conference call this week, Belichick was asked about Allen and his breakout season. He simply said all players get better from their rookie year as they continue to develop.
Allen is having one of the best seasons in the history of the Bills franchise. He’s thrown for 4,000 yards before Week 16′s showdown with the Patriots and has set the single season touchdown record with 39 on the year. He struggled a bit against New England in Week 8, though. He threw for just 154 yards on 18 throws as the Bills leaned on their running game.
We’ll see what Belichick has to say after tonight’s game.
