West Virginia's Big 12 Tournament run is over. The Mountaineers lost to Oklahoma State on Thursday, doing so in strikingly similar fashion as the end of regular season loss to the Cowboys. WVU led for a good chunk of the game, built up a second half lead, blew it just as quickly, and then committed several unforced errors down the stretch. A Sean McNeil three that went right through the basket was just after the buzzer, and the Mountaineers lost, 72-69. Head Coach Bob Huggins discussed everything after the game. Here is what he had to say.
On his initial takeaways from the game: We had a stretch in the second half. We came out up six - which is exactly what I think we had in Morgantown - and we had the period where we threw the ball to them. Why you throw a bounce pass, I have absolutely no idea. Slowest pass in basketball. We throw it, it gets intercepted, they go score. Then they get the and-one on the block call, that was, well.... That takes it to five and we're fighting uphill the rest of the way. We don't rebound the ball well enough, and we can't compound that by turning the ball over.
